Chinese Ceramics: Qing to Modern Era

Large finely worked 18th C. blanc de chine figure of the Kuan Yin wearing a well modelled robe and carrying a scroll, head tilted down with a soft expression . The figure is signed by square seal on the back between the shoulders.  The glaze is very well done in creamy white in color. This particular figure is unusual  as the figure was made to stand without the typical swirling wave or rocky base. She was made to stand on her feet only. Excellent

A fine early 18th C. Kangxi period Dehua figure of the seated Quanyin with a small child. The coloring of this glaze is a creamy ivory tone and very smooth.

The base retains a label from, L. Wannieck Gallery, Paris. The label is marked  Kangx Hsi 1662/1723.  

Condition: In very good condition with a small minor nick to the glaze on the gowns hood behind her right ear, a couple of minor losses to the finger tips and very faint fritting to edges of robe in a few spots.. Old faint glaze line on robe near left hand.

We are very pleased to offer a rare and very well potted 18th C. Copper Red plate with a white glazed rim. The foot is very neatly finished, very smooth, with a well defined glaze edge inside and out. The base has a mottled greenish red and well suffused with bubbles. Ex-Collection Cornell University Museum. 11.6 inches in diameter.

We are very pleased to offer an Extremely rare Chinese Export Porcelain Square Form Blue and White Canton Tea Pot. This is a very good late 18th C. example with a sqaured spout, handle and pot as well. The body is slab constructed and the piece is supported by four half bracket feet.

Condition: Edge fritting, modest chip to foot and spout. {see photos} No significant breaks or any repairs.

A very fine deep Chinese Export cobalt blue well and tree serving platter done in the Nanking style. The quality of this example is particularly fine with very good deep coloratioin and tight details. The spear border is about as small as you will ever see them.  

Condition: Excellent Condition, no repairs, cracks or chips.

A well decorated and interestingly designed early Ching dynasty covered partitioned food dish with a round finial. The body is decorated in an overall pattern of peonies and vines framed by Ruyi head borders.

The foot rim is unglazed revealing a somewhat coarse paste indicating an early 18th C. Date.  

Condition: Excellent Condition.

A fine pair of late 18th C. Chinese dishes with brown dressed rims and central cartouches of four charactor marks, one of which is Qianlong and of the period.  Both plates are identical withy the exception of the marks. Each plate is also decrated with four figural roundels with divisions between them of vases and plants.  

Thes appear to have been most like made for the Japanese market.

Condition: Both in excellent condition, very minor spots of slight wear to the interior, i.e small marks in the glaze. Hard to see.  

A well potted and very unusually decorated 18th C. Chinese celadon ovoid vase with slightly relief worked cream paste inlay outlines with underglaze blue cobalt fill. The scene is a repeat pattern of opposing butterflys interspersed with floral devices. The foot has a brown dressing.

Condition: In very good condition free of repairs and chips. Small olld browned spider under base.
